A New Creation
It’s nearly spring, and it’s the time of year when there is a sense of “new”. New baby animals begin arriving, flowers begin to bloom after the cold winter months, and the sun shines brightly again. Those of us who are observing Lent, and looking towards the coming celebration of Easter, are totally in the middle of a season of reflection and surrender. There is a focus on becoming new, or transformation. We are letting go of old habits, or behaviors, or thoughts and guilts.
Becoming a new creation in Christ is more than just fixing what is broken. It means freedom. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, to continually work to tranform and renew. We have hope for life, instead of death. We can be sure that God will make all things new, as he promises in 2 Corinthians 5:17.
This chapter of 2 Corinthians talks both of spiritual renewal and also of the struggle of dealing with our earthly bodies – the brokenness that exists and the longing for the new bodies we will eventually have. As someone with chronic health issues for the entirety of my life, it’s a comforting passage and reminds me that we are not alone here in our suffering and difficulties. Not only am I not the only one who feels the way I often do, but God knows and has a plan for making all things new.
This week’s printables are taken from this scripture, and I chose a simple butterfly design to represent the new.
I also added a Spiral Bound Blank Journal with this design as well!
