September is here… where did summer go? I think August was five minutes long… but I’m totally ready for cooler weather and falling leaves, and even fires in the fireplace. There’s just something about fall that feels cozy and inviting. AND it means we’re gearing up for fun fall crafts, seasonal gift making, ornament parties and more! Here’s what’s happening THIS month at Delight Design…
CRAFT/PAINT PARTIES and OTHER EVENTS:
September starts with a bang as we join in the Yorkfest Activities. We’ll be having a Make & Take on Saturday, September 7th, from 11 to 2 pm. Come paint a “Furry Friend” or any of our other paintables. We’ll have the paint out, along with the color markers and pencils, so all ages welcome! Price is $4 each or 3 for $10.
On Sunday, Sept 8th we’ll have a table at the Cultural Festival at the Auditorium. We’ll be showcasing items for our HUGS FOR TOMORROW friends – safari animal earrings, stitch kits, and other African themed designs made both by us and by artisans from Africa. All money from any items sold will go directly to HUGS, to feed and educate kids in Malawi, Africa.
On Tuesday, September 10th, I’m hosting a Wood Embroidery night with the September embroidery project. It’s a two piece pumpkin, with 2 simple wood embroidery stitches. This will be at 6:30 p.m. in the shop, and the price is $18. You can “register” for the event by purchasing the kit HERE. For our non-local friends, I hope you’ll pick up a kit too, and embroider “with” us from afar!
And are you ready for this one? We’re doing our September Paint Party on Saturday, September 21st at 10:30 a.m. This adorable “Highland Cow – Moo…I Mean Boo!” door hanger will be a fun one to paint! You can register for this event by purchasing the kit HERE. Again, this kit is available for shipping too, for all our non-local readers!
And finally, on September 26th, we’ll be part of the York Sip & Stroll from 4 to 8 p.m. You can get tickets at the Chamber office or online. What a fun month this is going to be, and we hope to see you soon!

I feel like I just made the schedule for July, and here it is, time for the August schedule! Because August is crazy busy with end of summer & beginning of school activities, we have just a couple scheduled events for the month.
CRAFT/PAINT PARTIES and OTHER EVENTS:
The Craft/Paint parties will be just like July – come join me in the shop and purchase any in-stock kit and craft… or bring your own project if you’d rather! These scheduled dates are Tuesday the 6th at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday the 10th at 10:30 a.m.
We’ll also be at the Back to School night at East Hill park on Thursday the 15th. Come get a FREE “Back to School pocket hug“, and check out some of our crafty kits and get info about what we offer in the shop!
We can’t wait to welcome the YU freshman on Tuesday the 19th for Panther Prowl. It’s always so much fun meeting the new arrivals to town.
And finally, we’ll be closed August 29 and 30th, so we can set up a booth at the State Fair in Grand Island!!

MORE WOOD EMBROIDERY
Blessed Beyond Measure is our newest MINI Wood Embroidery Kit. It’s a 3.5 x 3.5 square, with super easy embroidery stitches, and is available in birch or white wood. You can order the kit online here or pick one up in the shop next week at the Craft/Paint party!
As many of you know, I will be having open heart surgery in May to repair a birth defect that didn’t get fixed during my first surgery 45 years ago.
We’re expecting Allan and I will have at least one month with no income as I recover, while having additional costs with the surgery and week long hospital stay in Omaha, and medical bills.
While I’m waiting for surgery, I’m not supposed to be working too hard, but thankfully designing is not too strenuous. And so…I’ve been designing! I’m excited to debut “The Heart Collection” (see what I did there?), with Prayer/Gratitude Journals, vinyl stickers, wood signs. Still in design mode are encouragement cards.

This collection is something I’ve been brainstorming and thinking about for months, and finally getting to design the new products over the last few weeks has been so fun AND therapeutic.
“The Heart Collection” is the first of at least three new series of products I’ll be releasing in 2023, and every sale will help with my Heart Surgery fund. If you can help by sharing my Facebook page, Instagram, and sales pages, I would appreciate it more than I can say. My hope is that these products can be used to encourage others and bring glory to God, while also helping us get through what’s coming!

“Make and Take Anytime” project – Pocket Hugs!
These Pocket Hugs make great gifts for someone special! Come down to the shop and pick out one or two, color/paint them and use glue dots to add them to the cute cards. The card says, “Hold this tight and know I care, even when I can’t be there”.
