I intended to write this email last week, at the beginning of July, but as always, there are just too many things happening, and somehow it’s already July 9th! So, happy belated 4th of July, and here’s what’s happening this month in the shop and online….
In an effort to be more organized, I got this schedule put together for the month, and managed to get it up on social media. The hope is to do this each month, AND to get the info to you here by email as well!
EMBROIDERY CLASSES:
Join us in the shop to learn wood embroidery stitches and create your own lovely wood embroidery sign. And this month, instead of pre-registration, we’re offering “choose from the in-stock kits”. We are still building our stock, so if you know for sure what you want to make, just shoot me an email, so I can be sure we have it
in-stock.
This kit/class includes:
WHEN: TUESDAY July 9th (that’s today) at 6:30 p.m., and SATURDAY, July 13th, at 10:30 a.m.
If you aren’t local, check out the embroidery page on the website to get a kit shipped to you! We’ve also added a couple of PARTY PACKS, so if you want to start your own embroidery circle in your location, you can get five kits at a reduced rate.
SIDEWALK SALES
We’ll be participating in the Sidewalk Sales on July 20th, starting at 9 a.m., with a variety of our in store items on sale for one day only. If you’re local, we’d love to see you!
PAINT PARTIES
We’ve scheduled two paint parties for July – TUESDAY, July 23rd at 6:30 p.m. and SATURDAY, July 27th at 10:30 a.m. We are going to try the “choose from the in-stock kits” idea for the paint parties too! We have a variety of kits ranging from $10 to $35 each. Come see what’s on the shelf and get painting! No registration required.
MORE WOOD EMBROIDERY
Because I can’t stop making new wood embroidery items, I’ve added a few new wood embroidery kits to the website, and we’re adding to our in store stock. This one is going to be a beautiful daisy floral sign, and at 5 inches round, a smaller but lovely piece. You can order the kit here.
EMBROIDERY OF THE MONTH CLUB
AND, because I am so excited about what we’re doing with wood (and now paper) embroidery, I decided to start an EMBROIDERY CLUB!
This is a monthly subscription and you’ll get a new wood (or paper!) embroidery kit every month.
So, here’s the extra fun part – if you’re local, you can join me in the shop each month and embroider during a monthly Embroidery Together event. For those of you that are not close enough to join in at the shop – I’m working on an online / live plan where we can still embroider together, even from a distance!! This will probably be by Zoom, but I’m still working on details!
Sound like something you’d like to try? Get your first month’s kit shipped (or pick-up) on July 15th. The Embroidery Together events will start in August, and I’ll have dates/details very soon.
I really hope you’ll join me in monthly embroidering together! I am having so much fun designing and creating with wood (and paper) embroidery, and I can’t wait for you to see what’s coming. This hobby is probably the best way I’ve found to relax in a LONG time.
The subscription is $28/month, and includes shipping. You can join the monthly membership here
I said this last month, but I’ll say it again…yes, I know I’ve been more than a little obsessed with the embroidery… but don’t worry – we still have LOTS of other kits and crafting options available in the shop and online, if you just aren’t interested in this amazing, fun, relaxing new hobby of wood embroidery! 🙂
Come join us for our first “Make and Take” event! This is a fun, simple craft project that makes a lovely wall hanging. Start with a simple rainbow cut-out, wrap different colors of yarn, and ta-da – Rainbow Wall Hanging!
We will have both white acrylic rainbows and wood rainbows, depending on your preference. We’ll supply the rainbow cut-out and will have lots of colors of yarn to choose from, so you can personalize your rainbow!
Date: Saturday, August 14th
Time: 10:30 a.m.

Just wanted to pop in your email inbox with a quick reminder that we are hosting Wood Embroidery classes next week. I’ve become slightly obsessed with making new Wood Embroidery kits, and can’t wait to share this with you! If you aren’t local, you can always purchase a kit from the website.
Over the next few weeks, I hope to make some videos to make it even easier to learn how to “wood embroider”, but our kits do include how-to instructions with photos! All the wood embroidery signs are made from high quality light gloss finished wood, and once you finish with the embroidery, we’ve included felt backers to complete the back, and sawtooth hangers for hanging!
Here’s the info on the classes… and a few new kits I made this last week!
WOOD EMBROIDERY CLASS
Join us in the shop to learn the two basic stitches and create your own lovely wood embroidery sign.
This kit/class includes:
Choose from two dates – Tuesday, June 11th at 6:30 p.m. OR Saturday, June 15th, at 10:30 a.m.
Also, choose from THREE wood options: light birch wood finish, dark wood finish, or black wood. All four woods have a glossy finish to them, so once you add your embroidery and the felt backer, the sign is complete!
The scalloped sign is approximately 7.5 inches in diameter, and has a sawtooth hanger on the back for hanging.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT today, so we can have your kit ready for the class.
AND MORE EMBROIDERY…
I have absolutely loved creating and designing new wood embroidery, so much so that I dream about designs when I sleep at night! Here are a couple more options you can choose from, with many more to come!
I realized after we cut the white wood version of “He Who Promised”, that white daisies probably wouldn’t work well, so I decided to add the colorful flower option! This shows a slightly different stitch for the flowers, but you could make colorful daisies too, if you like that style instead. Order online, or in the shop!
Next up is a lovely rectangle sign with “Consider How the Wildflowers Grow”, a reference from Luke 12:27. This one will have French knots as the border and the florals, with some lovely green leaves.
And finally, I designed a special heart “God Is In This Story” sign to commemorate the one-year anniversary since my open heart surgery.
The hand-lettering quotes and verses that make these signs AMAZING, are from Danielle from Imperfect Dust. As soon as I saw her sharing a video of making the “God Is In This Story” hand lettering, I knew I would be making something special with it. This is the perfect song/quote to encapsulate the last 2 years of my life.
“God is in this story
God is in the details
Even in the broken parts
He holds my heart, He never fails
When I’m at my weakest
I will trust in Jesus
Always in the highs and lows
The One who goes before me
God is in this story”
Today, June 8th, marks ONE YEAR since my open heart surgery. I’m in awe of what He has done, both before the surgery when I was so sick, and since the surgery, in the last full year of healing and recovery. He had my heart, both physical and spiritual, in His hands.
I am forever changed because of this part of my journey. I’m thankful to be here, to be alive and well, gaining strength every day. To be healing from trauma. To be finding a new lease on life. Everything is not perfect, but it is ALL in HIS hands, and I’m learning every day how to walk in faith and trust God for every breath.
One year! Here’s to so many more…as He goes before me, making the way.
We’re excited about Yorkfest this year, and the theme of Lego and Building Community Connections! In the spirit of that…on Saturday September 11th, we’re offering a FREE Make and Take (while supplies last). Come in between 9 and 2 p.m. and get one free Lego mini figure ornament. You can color it in our DIY Party room, or take it home to color/decorate.
It’s not too early for ghosts and halloween decor, right?? Come join us on Saturday, and make one of these cuties!
“Make and Take Anytime” project – Pocket Hugs!
These Pocket Hugs make great gifts for someone special! Come down to the shop and pick out one or two, color/paint them and use glue dots to add them to the cute cards. The card says, “Hold this tight and know I care, even when I can’t be there”.
Price is $3 per Pocket Hug, or 4 for $10.
Open Tue-Friday, 10-3 and Saturday 10-1
